He was the sun god, and helped in ways that the sun provides the energy for plants and crops to grow (photosnthisis) so that the people of Egypt had life. It was thought that Ra was born (again) with the start of a new day. Ra supposedly would dance acroos the sky and make crops grow and therfore life prosper.
