  • Loyalty Review Board (1947)- interviewed gov't employees to discover if they were Soviet spies

In the US, Some effects: "Duck and Cover drills" in the classroom for school children; protection from exploding nuclear weapons. Air Raid Sirens installed on street corners. Anti-Aircraft Missile Batteries in underground silos, most of which we didn't know about until the civilian construction workers accidently discovered them in the 1990's when the cold war was over.

"Duck and Cover Drills" for school children; Air Raid Sirens installed on street corners; Anti-Aircraft Missile Batteries installed underground in the communities, which we didn't know existed until construction crews accidently found, when the cold war ended in 1990. And people, on their own, using their own money, built bomb shelters in their back yards up until the 1960's.

Special covery (secret) organizations were formed. House Un-American Activities Committee blacklisted many people because the people didn't answer their questions. The Hollywood Ten, a group of California film directors were denies from their work because they didn't answer HUAC's questions. Alger Hiss, Julius Rosenburg, and Ethel Rosenburg were some of the Americans who went to jail for just not answering HUAC's questions.
