Special covery (secret) organizations were formed. House Un-American Activities Committee blacklisted many people because the people didn't answer their questions. The Hollywood Ten, a group of California film directors were denies from their work because they didn't answer HUAC's questions. Alger Hiss, Julius Rosenburg, and Ethel Rosenburg were some of the Americans who went to jail for just not answering HUAC's questions.
