The government dealt with them by sending Suffragettes to prison where they would go on a hunger strike and hence they would become too weak to participate in the Suffragette's violent struggles once they were released from prison.
not well.....they were arrested on many occasions. Unfortunately the suffragettes went on hunger strikes and had to be brutally force fed,until the 'Cat & Mouse Act' was introduced.
They put them in prison and some were even hung. When they were in prison some went on hunger strike but they were force fed so that it wouldn't give the government a bad name.
