Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades were the three sons of Kronos. After defeating their father, they drew lots to pick their territories. Zeus won and chose the sky, Poseidon got second and chose the sea, and Hades was left with the underworld. Zeus and Poseidon were pleased; Hades felt unlucky.
