The Industrial Revolution changed the world. The countries that industrialized gained more wealth and power then those that did not; therefore, European countries began to take advantage of African and Asian lands. The Europeans wanted to use these lands as sources for raw materials for their factories. Also, the idea of Social Darwinism had become popular, so the European nations thought that they were superior to less developed and different nations then them. They took control of many lands outside the world outside Europe and usually tried to modernize them.
