What was Japan doing to China during the World War 2?

why did japan invade Manchuria in china?.manchuria had natural resorces and raw materials such as coal and iron that japn wanted for its industries.china was weak as it was in the middle of a civil war.japan owned the manchuria railwaywhat happend?.31st september 1931 there was an explosion at mukden on the japanise owned south manchurian railway..japan accused chian of the exploion. shortly leading onto the japanise invasion of manchuria.febuary 1932 japan sets up a puppet goverment lead by Pu Yi to control the area and situation..china asks the league for help but japan claim manchuria a japanise sphere of influence.leagues response.the league had to be careful as japan was a permenent member of the league and a powerful on too.. the league tells japan to withdraw from china, but japan ignores the leagues warning and continue to attack manchuria..the league set up the lytton commission-after 6 months (lytonn went to manchuria by sea to write a report of the situation on manchuria. lytton sugessted that the league was in no hurry to confront japan for she was a key trading partner to briain and other countries in the league). lytton reports japan should withdraw and return manchuria to chinaconsequences. japan ignores the report and leaves the league in march 1933.japan invades chian showing the weakness of the league to prevent an agressive country.economic sanctions shown to be useless as japans trading partner was the usa for they werent in the league. and they were the most powerful country in the world at the time. military sanctions not used as no army was prepared to give up there army and send them to die the other side of the world.i hope this proves useful to you. sorry if there any spelling mistakes, im a rubbish typer :P . this is all i know about the manchuria crisis for i am in year 10 and about to take my GCSE's for histiry. i hope this answers your question
