Silk was one of the most important elements of the Chinese culture. It had numerous uses besides clothing including strings for Musical Instruments, fishing-lines, bow strings, and much more. It was eventually used as a currency. The largest impact it had with the Chinese culture was with trade. Western civilizations traded wool and other goods for the precious silk, which greatly helped their economy.
