Peter the Great even today is considered a great Russian leader. In building St. Petersburg 25,000 peasant workers died, but he was looked up to and loved. St. Petersburg is the most northern city in Europe and is located 500 miles from the Arctic Circle. It is 141 islands and modeled after other great European cities. It's buildings are in pastel colors of blue, pink, yellow, and green. I was there a year ago and found it to be a modern city full of history and Peter the Great.
