Actually, several people were working on the invention of television, and Philo Farnsworth was not the only one. But the reality is that in 1928, when other inventors (including Vladimir Zworykin, John Logie Baird, and Charles Francis Jenkins) were experimenting with this new technology, the average person did not use it, nor did most people even know about it. Early television sets had a tiny 3" screen, and very poor picture quality in the earliest versions; so only other inventors and engineers were keeping up with television's progress. There were a few 1928 news articles about the inventors working on TV, and at least a few experimental broadcasts, mostly to a select group of viewers chosen to evaluate the quality of the invention at that time. But it would not be until the mid-1930s that more than a handful of people became aware that television existed.

In 1928, when Philo Farnsworth first demonstrated the television, people used it mainly for experimental purposes and entertainment. They were able to watch simple images and moving pictures on the screen, but the technology was still in its early stages and not widely accessible to the general public.
