His name was Colonel (later General) Paul W. Tibbetts. He felt just fine about it. In an interview recorded only a few years before his death he said "I never lost a minute's sleep over it." People in the US today forget the savage barbarity with which the Japanese waged the war they started, their ruthless cruelty, and pigheaded stubbornness in not giving up for years after the war was obviously lost to them. And also that the atomic bombings saved lives, both Japanese and American, as it gave the Japanese leaders an adequate excuse to surrender, making an invasion of Japan with its inevitable bloodbath, unnecessary.

Do you feel that the US should have used the Atomic Bomb as a means to end World War 2?

Although using such a devastating weapon is always questioned, I believe the U.S. was justified to use the Atomic Bomb. Even the Japanese citizens were told to fight. By dropping the Atomic bomb, there was potentially less death, since no U.S. soldiers were harmed. The citizens would not have surrendered. Japan was not going to surrender, and so the Atomic bomb saved thousands of American lives, and shortened that terrible war

How did the Japanese feel about Americans 12 days after the bomb exploded in Hiroshima?

How does it feel to get bomb?

If you don't get very injured by the bomb you can live to say first you feel the percussive force of the blast - enough to throw you many yards. Your ears nearly explode if it does not burst your eardrums. You can't hear for hours or days after a bomb blast most of the time. It feels like hot air whooshed at you at 100 miles an hour instantly. If you get injured the pain is beyond excruciating. If you are lucky you shut down until they get you to the hospital to fix you. There is not enough morphine to make you feel better. I had to learn this from the Marines who describe this horrible experience.

How did the kamikaze pilots effect the decision of using the atomic bomb?

Their suicidal efforts convinced the US that the Japanese did not feel beaten and were not ready to surrender

Did Truman regret dropping the bomb?

Actually FDR made the decision to drop the atomic bomb prior to his death, Truman did not even know of the atomic bomb at the time this decision was made. When he was informed of the atomic bomb after FDR's death he only decided to continue all of FDR's decisions and policies without change. The Army Air Forces implemented FDR's decision in an order to drop the bombs "as soon as they became available".Truman's only actual decision on the use of the atomic bomb was to stop dropping them after the Japanese indicated their willingness to surrender on August 14.Truman continued his policy against the further use of atomic bombs by firing General MacArthur as soon as he proposed their use during the Korean War and replacing him with General Ridgway.

Would you feel anything if a atom bomb went off?

It depends on if you are within the blast radius of an atomic bomb...

If you are within the firey blast radius of the bomb, then no. You will feel nothing at all. The heat from an atom bomb is so intense that not only does it sear your nerve endings shut, it completely turns you into dust. So, in other words, you will be dead before your brain comprehends what has happened.
