Rome was divided into Western and Eastern Roman Empire in 1054 BC. It was divided to have more cotrol over the country. Later, Constantine moves the capital of Rome to Eastern Rome. The new capital's location was perfect for defence and commerce. Later, Western Empire fell down because of numbers of attacks. The Eastern Empire shrank, but still survived. germanic tribes swamped the roman defenses the reason for this is because the empire began to use German soldiers who when revolted rome would be lef t defenceless
