slaves made pyramids with their bare hands and with the muscle of their bare bodies
actually, slaves didnt build the pyramids at all. Paid labourers recruite from poor villages built the pyramids. these workers were fed well and had accesss to medical care. the myth about slaves building the pyramids came from an ancient Greek historian named Hero dotus.
not only were these workers well paid and fed, they were much respected for their work and were buried in a simple tomb right near the pyramids of their rulers. these tombs had jars that were once filled with bread and beer to supply workers for the afterlife.
no slave would have been given so many benefits and the honor to be bured next to the pyramids. the notion that hebrew slaves built the pyramids is a completely ridiculous myth.
Not as we understand slavery today. First there would have been a core of well paid and cared for skilled workers and scribes who worked on the pyramid all year round. There was also a vast force of unskilled labour to do all the heavy work. These were peasants conscripted during the inundation of the river Nile when work was not possible in the fields. They would have been provided with food, shelter and other essentials for survival. The majority of these men, if not all, would have been naked, too low in status to wear clothes. The Pharaoh was able to call upon this pool of labour for months at a time without disrupting the agricultural lifeblood of the ancient Egyptian economy and without having to provide more than basic subsistence. This system of temporary forced labour or corvée was little more than slavery, supported by a system of harsh punishments designed to deter anyone from deserting.
Probably not, the early pyramids of the 3rd and 4th dynasties were more likely to be built by peasants conscripted during the annual flood of the Nile when no work was possible in the fields. Later pyramids which are not as well constructed might well of been built using slave labour.
