The main focus of the Great Compromise at the Constitutional Convention concerned how states were to be represented in the U.S. Congress. It is also referred to as Sherman's Compromise.
The Connecticut Compromised settled the question of how states would be represented in Congress. The Compromise was that Congress would be made up of two houses, one in which each state was represented equally, and one in which each state was represented according to its population.
At the Constitutional Convention, there was a compromise reached on the process by which the President is elected. The final proposal was written by Madison and described the electoral college process.
The compromises that the Northern and Southern states reached were the Great Compromise and the Three-Fifths Compromise.~A.K. =)

If delegates to the convention never made compromises then many bonds with the USA. small states would be loosened. This would weaken the trust of the government.
