Lee's plans were revealed in a set of orders that had been lost in the fieldby a Confederate officer, and discovered thereby Union troops.
They were not actually plans for attacking Antietam. They were plans for invading Pennsylvania. But they revealed that his divisions were widely separated, and that McLellan would be able to destroy them piecemeal, if he moved fast enough.
He didn't move quite fast enough to do this, but he was stillable to defeat Lee at Antietam.

McClellan, who at that time was the Commander of Union Army of the Potomac.
