The American Revolutionary War was a war of attrition. George Washington's main strategy was to maintain a small army to harass the British until they tired of the war, gave up, and went home. George Washington did not have the men, equipment, supplies, or ammunition to take on the British in one of more large battles that would have most likely ended the war, witha British victory.
