you need to specify the geographic region you are inquiring about. the most basic answer, about Europe, at least, is the Renaissance. The middle ages were coming to an end, the printing press was being invented, people we re-discovering knowledge gained by the Greeks and Romans, people were re-discovering the arts, architecture, technology, etc etc etc. But if you look elsewhere, you will get a different history, and even the answer of the European Renaissance is too broad, as the Renaissance hit in different times in different places, and the Renaissance itself can be defined in many, many different ways. For instance, in England around 1490-1500 Shakespeare was publishing his plays, but this form of the Renaissance had already taken place and passed in Florence, Italy, were many scholars agree the Renaissance started.
a gradual change in the way people viewed things
Renaissance writers wrote about political rulers and rulers to expand their power
Majority of the people in the renaissance period would have been making their living by farming. The man took care of the farming and the women take care of poultry.
Here is a quick answer. The middle ages was different from the renaissance because the renaissance was basicly a time when the arts music and science reawakened and had some advances to it. People were more interested about art, music, literature, and science in the renaissance. During the middle ages it was not as important to the people, so when the renaissance came the arts were kind of reintroduced to the people. The renaissance lasted from about 1300 to 1600.
after the middle ages, people started to respect the arts and culture again. this was the beginning of the renaissance.
Paintings before the Renaissance: people saw in only a 2 dimensional figure, but in the Renaissance, people saw art in a 3 dimensional figure. Painters in the Renaissance gave attention to body size, proportions, perspective, and detail.
The value of humanism fourished in the Renaissance, it was very common amongst people. While in the Middle Ages, people were strongly Catholic, and followed the church at all costs.
Personally, I would have preferred to have lived during the Middle Ages. One reason is that people in the Renaissance looked down on those of the Middle Ages as barbarians, but the people of the Renaissance were more superstitious and less rational. They pursued witch hunts and suppressed science in ways that were not done in the Middle Ages. Unfortunately, we tend to buy the propaganda of the Renaissance, partly because they were the only ones who could make the comparison - the people of the Middle Ages did not know what was coming. There was a lot of activity in the Middle Ages in engineering, science, philosophy, education, and mathematics that we little of today. The people of the Renaissance tried to work in these fields, but took a less practical and more cosmological point of view, resulting in ecclesiastical suppression. The food and medicine in the High Middle Ages and Late Middle Ages were no worse that that of the Renaissance. The people of the Middle Ages believed that cleanliness was next to godliness, so they were clean. They also believed that bad air, with bad smells, could carry diseases. The people of the Renaissance covered their bad smells with perfume and called the Middle Ages stinky. The people of the Middle Ages believed in their religion and believed a person was no better than his word. The Renaissance produced Macchiavelli and people who thought he was just dandy. One thing the Renaissance had was a greater proportion of houses that had fireplaces and chimneys.
