The earliest man undoubtedly was an astute observer of the universe. No lights from cities to make viewing difficult. The stars, the meteors, the planets and of course the moon were something of majesty to them. They soon learned the cycles and to navigate using the stars. Well the moon did have early misconceptions. The observers believed the areas of darker land were seas, and the more reflective areas land. It's amazing subject to think about.
