Like all changes there is resistance. Professional photographers would only accept digital when the quality had become acceptable. The first Pro camera I used was a Nikon with 5 million pixel chip which by todays standard is pretty poor. The quality and convenience, and reduced costs (no film or processing costs) have made the taking of pictures a real pleasure. Obviously there are still photographers using film. Some of the latest Nikon cameras also have broadcast quality video facility so the camera is ideal for a news photographer who needs and can send video.
Kodak invented the digital camera.
i believe Steven Sanson invented the digital camera first.

Steven Sasson as an engineer at Eastman Kodak bult the first digital camera.
John Sasson didn't invent the digital camera. Steve Sasson has his name on the patent for the first digital camera.
