How did unresolved issues following world war 2 contribute to postwar tensions between the US and the soviet union?

Communism and Capitalism are opposing political philosophies.

While there was a mutual need for cooperation during World War II,

once the war was over, that cooperation evaporated. The Soviets

remained in areas they had agreed to leave, allowing the countries

to have free elections and decide which form of government the

citizens wanted. While occupied, those countries had no choices,

they simply were swallowed up by the Soviet Union.
