Russia was beaten badly by the Germans on the battlefield, while back in Russia, the Russian civilian people starved and went without. Also, Tsar Nicholas was a failure as a leader of Russia, just like French king Louis XVI was a failure. The Germans allowed Lenin (a Russian communist) to travel to Russia to get that nation out of the war, and Lenin led a revolution in Russia to try and solve the internal problems of Russia. The internal problems in Russia would not be solved for a long time.
in its immediate and long term effects, the Russian revolution was more like the French Revolution than the American revolution. the American revolution expanded English political ideas into a constitutional government that built on many existing structures. in contrast, both the Russian and french revolutions attempted to destroy existing social and political structures.
It was World War I that cost the Tsar the military force he needed to keep the Russian people from overthrowing his regime. The Russian Army was losing its battles and suffering huge casualties. The soldiers in the army began to refuse to carry out orders, to murder some of their own officers and to demand that the war be ended. When Tsar Nicholas II refused to end the war, military discontent got so intense that when demonstrations and rioting broke out in Petrograd, the army refused the Tsar's orders to put down the demonstrations. Once the Tsar saw that he could no longer command his own military forces, he knew he had lost the power to prevent the revolution so he abdicated his throne.
When World War I started, Russia was a huge but very backwards country. When Russian armies started fighting, they lost badly to the better trained and equipped Germans. The war was going very badly, and food and other shortages back home made the common people angry at their emperor (known as a "Tsar").
Eventually the Tsar went to personally command his armies (which he was bad at, so he didn't help the situation), and while he was gone, the Tsar's unpopular wife (who was originally from Germany, so a lot of Russians thought she was a spy) tried to govern in his absence. She failed. Protests against the war and shortages became larger; the Tsar ordered some of his military to shoot the protesters. The soldiers instead joined the protesters, and this was the start of the February Revolution.
The only country directly involved in the Russian Revolution was Russia itself. Germany did help Vladimir Lenin get into Russia and then funded his revolutionary operations, but it was not truly involved as a nation.
The Revolution Of 1917 overthrew the regime of the Russian monarchy. The power vacuum allowed for the Bolsheviks to take power.
Absolutely. The citizens were ready for change once again.
The industrial revolution made possible the mass producton of weapons, which generally meant larger armies and greater bloodshed. This might have helped the rich and powerful achieve their aims , but was of no help to the poor cannon fodder on the battlefield. To help with war is to bring it to an end, forever. The converse is also true - the ever increasing need for more weapons accelarated the industrial revolution.
Pippa and Joelly are too unsure of the answer, we are doing a project for RS in school and would like to know the answer to this as it would help alot. thanks a bunchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :))

Germany helped Lenin (a communist) get to Russia hoping that he would help to overthrow the Russian monarchy, and start a communist revolution. A revolution would mean Russia would be involved in a internal Russian war/Civil War instead of fighting with Germany

Organization of Russia into republics helped the Bolsheviks gain and hold political control because it led to the October Revolution phase of the Russian Revolution.
