Ubuntu will not make an official Firefox 3.5 package for Intrepid (8.10) since it is not considered a critical security fix, and support for Intrepid will be retired before Firefox 3.0 reaches end-of-life. Because Intrepid is near end-of-life, there's also been little interest in making a backport package. You have a few options:1. Upgrade to Jaunty (9.04). There is a package of Firefox 3.5 already in the repos.2. Use the Mozilla team's PPA of Firefox 3.5 builds. These are development builds, and may not be completely stable. Add the following to your /etc/apt/sources.list filedeb http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-mozilla-daily/ppa/ubuntu intrepid maindeb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-mozilla-daily/ppa/ubuntu intrepid main Then 'sudo apt-get update' and 'sudo apt-get install firefox-3.5'3. Compile the source yourself.4. Use Firefox's precompiled binary tarball.
First type about:config in the address bar and find the string "browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone". Change the value of this string to false to disable the automatic virus scanning in Firefox 3, and change it to true to activate it. (ignore the warning they give you, this is safe to do)
It basically means "share it with Flock". Flock is a social web broswer made by Mozilla (the guys who made Firefox). It's pretty cool, and you should give it a try. Almost all firefox extensions work on it. I'm on it right now.
2004. Firefox is part of the mozilla project. The mozilla project started in 1998 and its first release was the Netscape browser and suite. Later, Mozilla 1.0 was release in 2002. Finally, Firefox 1.0 was released in 2004. Source: http://www.mozilla.org/about/history.html
I would end the process. Control, Alt Delete (TASK MANAGER )and end. Sometimes programs stop responding.....With firefox you could usually restore your session if you have that enabled. K peace
I did some research on Firefox's Site because I had the exact same problem, the reason why it isn't loading is because you have Firefox running in the background but you don't see it.To End Problem:Right-click on an empty spot in the Windows task bar and select Task Manager (or press Ctrl+Shift+Esc). When the Windows Task Manager opens, select the Processes tab.Select the entry for firefox.exe (press F on the keyboard to find it) and click End Process.Click Yes in the "Task Manager Warning" dialog that appears.Repeat the above steps to end any additional firefox.exe processes, if more than one entry is found, then exit the Windows Task Manager.Start Firefox normally.
Unfortunately, You have to go to task manager, see if you see firefox.exe and click end process. I do not know why Firefox does this!
One can find the correct URL of Yahoo Mail by visiting the Yahoo website where they have links to their email service. In the US it will end with 'com' while in the UK it will end with 'co.uk'.
