Zionism did not affect the Holocaust. The Nazis were anti-Jewish in a racist sense. They didn't draw any distinction between practising and non-practising Jews, or between Zionists and non-Zionists. On the other hand, it is often said that the Holocaust had the effect of strengthening Zionism.
In the true sense of the word, not at all. But in the political sense, it gave it a louder voice.
Zionism existed long before the Holocaust and was recognized internationally by the League of Nations Mandate for Palestine back in 1919 and 1922. However, most countries around the world did not see a Jewish State as being necessary to protect the Jewish People. The Holocaust changed the perspective of many non-Jews that Jews could not depend on non-Jews for their protection after such a slaughter and merited their own homeland.
