Relatively straight forward as long as you have the right tools. All details below refer to a 2.2 dci.
1) The oil capacity for a 2.2 dci is approx 6.3 litres so you will need a large enough container for the oil change. Because of the height underneath of the vehicle and my drive has a download slope, I use caravan ramps to level up and create more room underneath. Much easier working from under the vehicle.
2) You will need an oil plug socket and an oil filter wrench (Filter is a cartridge type). Wrench is for the cover (fluted design). Check diamater and number of flutes.
3) Remove the lower engine tray
4) Across the front is a stabilser bar, undo the two bolts, one each side and remove bar.
5) Underneath the oil filter housing are some hoses. Follow them back, they go back behind the engine sump and gearbox and you should find a bracket held with a hex bolt. Undo the bolt, loosen the bracket and it should free up the hoses under the oil filter housing.
6) You now have sufficient room to get the oil filter wrench onto the cover and turn using a ratchet / socket wrench. And you shouldn't get oil over the hoses either.
7) Once the oil is drained from the sump and oil filter housing, replace the oil filter cartridge. The new item should come with a replacement o-ring which goes on the cover. The oil filter cartridge only goes in one way - the clips on the cartridge fit into the cover.
8) Tighten up the oil filter cover and sump plug to the correct torque settings and now ready to refill with oil. Check oil grading, I use Carlube Triple R 5w40 as it has the RN0710 grading. Other brands available of course.
9) Once happy there's no leaks for the sump or filter cover, refit the hose bracket with the hex bolt, the stabiliser bar and lower engine tray.
10) This is what I do. There may be other methods. If unsure, check with a garage or other suitably qualified person.
