These are two subjects that should never be brought up in mixed company. Seriously! It can lead to heavy debates. Christianity is important in our Western countries, but not shoved down peoples throats and we all have the freedom to choose what type of religion we want or if we want any at all. If a President or Premier (Canadian) is of Catholic faith there is no room in politics for their believes and when making decisions it should be decisions made for all whether Christians or non-Christians. Will somebody please tell what's posted above to Pat Robertson. We have enough votes to run the country. And when the people say, "We've had enough," we are going to take over. -- Pat Robertson, speech given to the April, 1980 "Washington for Jesus" rally, quoted from Robert Boston, The Most Dangerous Man in America, p. 29 If Christian people work together, they can succeed during this decade in winning back control of the institutions that have been taken from them over the past 70 years. Expect confrontations that will be not only unpleasant but at times physically bloody.... This decade will not be for the faint of heart, but the resolute. Institutions will be plunged into wrenching change. We will be living through one of the most tumultuous periods of human history. When it is over, I am convinced God's people will emerge victorious. -- Pat Robertson, Pat Robertson's Perspective Oct-Nov 1992 We at the Christian Coalition are raising an army who cares. We are training people to be effective -- to be elected to school boards, to city councils, to state legislatures, and to key positions in political parties.... By the end of this decade, if we work and give and organize and train, THE CHRISTIAN COALITION WILL BE THE MOST POWERFUL POLITICAL ORGANIZATION IN AMERICA -- Pat Robertson, in a fundraising letter, July 4, 1991 The idea that religion and politics don't mix was invented by the Devil to keep Christians from running their own country. -- Rev Jerry Falwell, Sermon, July 4, 1976 If we are going to save America and evangelize the world, we cannot accommodate secular philosophies that are diametrically opposed to Christian truth ... We need to pull out all the stops to recruit and train 25 million Americans to become informed pro-moral activists whose voices can be heard in the halls of Congress. I am convinced that America can be turned around if we will all get serious about the Master's business. It may be late, but it is never too late to do what is right. We need an old-fashioned, God-honoring, Christ-exalting revival to turn American back to God. America can be saved! -- Jerry Falwell, "Moral Majority Report" for September, 1984 I would gladly vote in Pat Robertson for president. He is God-fearing, unlike any possible candidate running now. they are too obsessed with being politically correct. Political correctness and Christianity don't mix. Christianity is the absolute truth. The Bible foretells this truth when it says In the end times, evil will be good and good will be evil. That is speaking of politically correctness. I stated the first post and I stand by it! I am a Christian, but believe I have no right to shove my beliefs down anyone's throats. Not all people are of one faith and since the U.S. and Canada live in a free country with freedom of speech Mr. Robertson is his own worst enemy. If you look back on history there have been over-zealous Christian groups that have meant well, but ended up causing more harm than good. Yes, I believe in prayer being brought back into the school system and for those that are not of that faith they can sit just like they did in the 40s and 50s when I was in school. EVERYONE should have the right to any church they so choose to enter or any Temple. Also any individual should have the right to believe or disbelieve in Christianity as long as they do no harm. Let me remind you of Jonestown to name a few! It's all about power! If you don't believe me then take a good look on your TV and see some of these so-called Christians in ,000 silk suits, big gold rings on their fingers, not to mention manicured nails (if you are paying attention) and last, but not least investing money in property that come from the followers of some of these faiths. If a frock and sandals were good enough for Jesus then it's good enough for these so-called religious leaders. Feel free to copy what I've written and I would be more than happy to go one-on-one with Mr. Robertson. And engage in civil war again, but this time not about slavery, but supremacy of the Christian religion among other religions and non-Theists? And become a Theocracy like Iran? And engage in Crusades and Inquisition? This is what your Idol Pat Robertson meant when he said "Expect confrontations that will be not only unpleasant but at times physically bloody.... " Dede: "Pat, I've tried to adjust to this 'saved' jag you're on, but you've become a fanatic. All you do is read that Bible all day and sit around and talk to Jesus. I'm a nurse. I recognize schizoid tendencies when I see them, and I think you're sick. It's just not normal for a man to walk out on his wife and leave her with a small child when she's expecting a baby any minute -- while he goes off Into the Woods to talk to God. God doesn't tell people to do things like that. At least, my God doesn't." Pat: "I can't leave. God will take care of you." -- Dede and Pat Robertson, quoted from Robert Boston, The Most Dangerous Man in America, pp. 25-26 ==new answer== Unfortunately, dangerously at this point. A state religion was why we came here so we could have the freedom of religion or freedom from it. We need to remember Constantinople.

There isn't. We have this thing called "Separation of Church and State". It protects the church from being ruled/controlled by the government. The church and government united was a mess in Europe when the founder fathers came over and they didn't want that same mess here.

Although the majority of the United States government was originally based on the principles of Christianity, the people of the United States are not forced to be Christians and at anytime the United States Republic can overrule(for lack of a better word) these principles.
