first answer:

The Filipinos joined the Americans by taking to the mountains and fighting a guerilla style war until MacArthur had "returned". Filipino and US Rangers worked together in freeing US and Filipino POW's at Cabanatuan and at Los Banos. Many Filipinos risked their lives for lives for Americans during the Bataan death march. The Camp O' Donnel Memorial in Cabanatuan is beautifully kept up and the American Cemetery in Manila is beautifully maintained....the Philippines were granted their independence in 1946. The people of the Philippines suffered greatly at the hands of the brutally savage Japanese, as did the American POW's.

second answer:

The Filipinos have also volunteered to serve in the US Military throughout the 20th & 21st centuries in all corners of the world. When I was an Infantry Platoon Leader at Ft. Riley, Kansas, I had a Squad Leader & a corporal that were Filipino, and very good soldiers.
