the first step to timing the fe 390 is to locate the timing marks on the damper mark tdc with nailpolish a bright collor works best next locate 6 degrease before tdc remove number one spark plug this is the front spark plug on the pasinger side install compresion gauge rotate damper until comresion showes on gauge tdc mark should be close continue rotation to tdc remove dist cap note direction rotor is pointing this will be the place that you instale #1 plug wire on the dist cap instale the rest of the leads in the order stamped on your intake manifold install cap disconect vac adv and plug instale spark plug losen hold down on dist crank engine over turn dist slowly left and right untile engine fires and runs further timing may be done with a light
