Fluid on the passenger side floor is one of two things. Either you have a water leak from outside, as in a windshield leaking, condenser drain line stopped up and leaking into the car, or the heater core is leaking. Taste the fluid. If it taste sweet, it is coolant and the heater core needs replacing.
The transmission fluid dipstick is located on the passenger side near the top rear of the engine. With the engine running, remove the dipstick and check the level on the stick.
Sounds like heater core is leaking and what you are seeing is antifreeze

the dipstick for the transmission fluid should be just off center of your engine bay, favoring the passenger side, near bout up to the firewall. remove the dipstick and use a narrow-neck funnel to add fluid.
most likely cause is your heater core leaking

A 1997 Chevrolet Suburban will hold approximately 4 quarts of transmission fluid. This fluid can be purchased at any auto parts store such as NAPA.
DOT-3 brake fluid.
trans fluid,power steering fluid,dex-cool antifreeze
under the hood on the passenger side near the firewall. there will be a tube coming up from the trans and it will have a red handle on it. lift the latch and pull the dipstick out----fill it there.

Fill it at the same place you check the fluid level.

Dexron II, IIE or III ATF TRANSMISSION FLUID
Transmission fluid is added through the dipstick that you check the fluid on. be sure to check the fluid with the vehicle running and in park
The heater core is located on the passenger side under the dash. When you see fluid leaking, it's time to replace the heater core. Get ready to spend a fair amount of money.
The fluid was spilled and caused the floor to be slippery.
Get a lube shop to do it.
You must use-- DEXRON III Trans. fluid
Dextron tranny fluid
The transmission could have a bad seal or have too much internal pressure causing the fluid to come from the 93 Suburban vent hole. The Fluid is probably leaking slowly, and that is why the level still shows normal.
It does not matter on that year as long as it is power steering fluid.
Through the dip-stick tub. Do not overfill.
