the hairspring allows zero- reset of the pointer;
it returns the pointer to exact zero, resting on the pin.
to determine this; it would be seen that at zero pressure, the pointer does not rest exactly on the zero rest pin, but may bounce up by approx2% of value.
possable cause of damage is wear in the gear system which drives movement from 1 part to another utilising the centre gear piece.
