Arthur Tedder is the name of the allies commanders in the battle of Normandy.
There were at least two battalions of the 101st Abn (Ambl) Div taking that hill. Each Bn consisted of about 600 men. You'll need to ID those BNs (the 1/187th Infantry was one of them), then hit the 1/187th Infantry Association website which might list their names. That would be well over 1200 names, as less than 200 died there. Generally those associations don't list the names of survivors...only the fallen.
the beach code names for June 6 1944 invasion of Normandy were: Utah, Omaha, Juno, Sword and Gold
Normandy beaches were code named: Utah, Omaha, Sword, Juno and Gold
There were no US Marines on the BEACHES at Normandy. There were marine snipers on the highest points on the ships firing at badly placed mines and MG nests along the beach. There were marines operating the main guns on the ships.
The ARVN's may have had some regiments by that number; but not the US. The only US Army (Marines didn't use em) Airborne Divisions and Brigades in Vietnam were: 1. 82nd Abn 2. 173rd Abn 3. 101st Abn (Ambl) US Special Forces are not counted. The 101st Abn was technically an Airmobile Division in Vietnam. There was actually controversy in Vietnam on whether or not the 101st shoulder patch should be changed to read (on the tab) AIRMOBILE instead of AIRBORNE. As any active duty servicemember can tell you, they still read "Airborne."
