Common issues we have ran into have been cam sensor. Some give no warning or set computer codes. They just go bad. Ford will sell you one but you can save money buying one through an International Truck and Bus dealer parts counter. International Corp made/makes Power Stroke Diesels for Ford. Some Fords have the injector drive modules installed above the inner fender up under the windshield just in front of the driver, under the hood. The water from rain and car washes, especially POWER WASHERS, can get inside the module. Fast way to find out is to take the module off and shake it. You'll hear and feel the water inside. FORD does have a tech service bulletin out yet most service managers do not know of it. AUTOZONE can locate the tech bulletin for you through their ALLDATA system. Dan Luttrell, Indiana
it lets coolant flow through the engine when it gets to a certain temperature Regulates the temperature.
no
The engine fan on a 2003 Pontiac Montana works by turning on when the engine reaches a certain temperature. It then blows cool air across the radiator and engine to maintain a constant temperature.
What is a normal operation in city traffic and in highway for corvette 2002 with LS1 engine?
It's not supposed to be on. It comes on when engine reaches certain temperature. But if you see that temperature gauge is going in the red area you need to check the fan relay, its fuse, and the temperature sensor.
A diesel engine works by compressing its fuel (which raises its temperature). When it has been compressed to a certain point its temperature is raised sufficiently for it to ignite by itself, without the need of an external spark.
Lift hood. If engine is missing, there will be a large empty space where the engine used to be.
If the engine temp only gets to 120 degrees F, I would say the thermostat is stuck open or missing.
Sounds like you have a faulty thermostat. Its nothing expensive on hard to replace.
It cycles the fan on and off to cool the engine to a certain temperature and to keep it from running hot
How much oil is "missing"?
The engine temperature cooling switch helps regulate the engine's temperature. Teemed with the radiator and incoming air, this keeps the engine at its optimal performance temperature.
