The following instructions are for Intel-based Macs, only. Windows will not run on the older processors without expensive and poorly performing software.
One feature of the current Mac OS X software is an applet called Boot Camp that allows you to install and switch back and forth (on restart) between the Apple and Microsoft operating systems.

Section 3
Windows should now be installed in its own partition on your internal hard drive.
Section 4
To select which start-up disk you want to use for a particular session:
Note: You can only use one partition at a time. Although the dormant partition icon will be visible on your desktop, you will not have access to any files or applications under that OS.
If you need to transfer a file between operating systems, you'll have to email it to yourself from the appropriate operating system, burn the file to CD or DVD, or transfer across a network, using a second computer as an intermediary (and yes, Macs and PCs can talk to each other across a network).
Section 5
Once the default OS is set, your computer will automatically boot under the selected partition. If you want to use the other operating system for a session, restart while holding down the option key, select the non-default disk, and click the arrow. You will not need to reset your default on restart unless you deliberately want to change it.
Installing Windows on the Intel Mac is usually straightforward and painless; however, if you run into conflicts, consult the instructions you printed in Step 8 of Section 1 for troubleshooting tips. Or ask a teenager to help you.
To run the Windows operating system on a Mac you will need to buy a copy of Windows. (See links below)

If you own a copy of the Windows operating system you can install it on any recent Mac with an Intel processor. This can either be done using Apple's Boot Camp which lets you run Windows as you would on any other computer or by using emulation software such as Fusion or Parallels which will run Windows in its own Window on top of your Mac OS X system. (See links below)
You can install Windows by first installing Boot Camp, which is included with Mac OS X. It's a multi-boot utility that allows you to boot either Mac OS or Windows OS. After setting it up, you would need Windows installation drivers that's stored in a storage device (ex: flash drives), or on disk.
Windows 7 can be installed on a Mac either through the Boot Camp utility or with Parallels (See links below).
With Boot Camp which comes preinstalled on a Mac or with Parallels which you must purchase.

After using a Windows computer for over six years I switched to the Apple iMac. I have been using this iMac for almost 5 years without one single problem or one single crash. I love my iMac and would never ever go back to a Windows computer.
You can not legally run Mac OS on any computer not designed by apple.
Windows Movie Maker can only be installed on an iMac if you install Windows on a Mac. You can do that with Boot Camp or Parallels. However, your iMac already has excellent movie making software that came pre-installed that is just as good as Movie Maker. It is called iMovie. Open it and give it a try.
