First I would like to properly explain to you what species dysphoria is. To do this we will need to look at the definition of dysphoria. According to Google dysphoria is a noun meaning “a state of unease or generalized dissatisfaction with life.†So then from that definition we can say that species dysphoria is a state of unease or generalized dissatisfaction with ones species.

Most people who experience species dysphonia do not experience it as a continuous thing. It tends to flow from extremely mild or no dysphoria to extreme dysphoria.

The only real way to tell is to search inside of yourself. Have you ever experienced dissatisfaction with your body? Not just something as simple as ‘oh I wish I was a wolf sometimes’. A feeling where you genuinely believe that you should have wolf ears and a wolf tail and being genuinely upset and distraught that you do not, to the point where you wanted to cry. Of course the dysphoria isn’t always so bad that it makes you that upset but it would have been several times in the past.

If at any point you believe that you have turned into an animal or could turn into an animal this is NOT species dysphoria and it is severely important that you seek medical attention.

As far as telling your parent is concerned you need to figure that out own your own. You know them better than anyone online does.
