Check to see if you have the correct interface (Firewire, USB, eSata, etc...) available. Next, check if your operating supports for preformatted file system. If it isn't you just need to reformat it to a file system that is compatible.
i don't really know bruh..
i really dont know help please
In the same way how you access local disks, you just need to know an external drive name.
Most external hard drives can be used as internal ones. Provided that the IDE, SATA, or SCSI interface of the external hard drive is the same as the desktop's system board hard drive interface. Users can remove the USB casing and proceed to plug the data and power cables into it. The external drive, just has an additional component, that's used to hook up with the USB port.
In general, there is no reason to have more than one partition on an external hard drive. There are some specific cases where it might be desirable but you would know if you had a requirement like that.
Well as you may know an internal hard drive is inside your computer and stores just about all your computers' info. But you may have information on there that you want to take to your friends house, so you would put the info on your internal hard drive on an external hard drive, then put it on your friends computer instead of taking in and out your internal hard drive. So really bottom line here and external hard dirve is a more portable hard drive and easier to carry around.
I'm using a My Passport and when i connect it it says it has to be reformatted but then it says there was an unknown error and it doesn't work. I don't know if it's the hard drive itself or what.
Just buy a re hard disk from a known company and its reliable.Toshiba's and Western Digital's are good and you can also buy Seagate disks.
yes you can and i know because i did it this will only work if your computer supports SATA drives 1. buy a vantec external hard drive 2. use the SATA plug that comes with it to plug it in 3. restart your computer to enter the setup 4. install onto your hard drive CAUTION make sure you dont overwrite your computer hard drive then your done you can then remove the HD from the case with a screwdriver and install it into your computer
It depends. If it is a laptop hard disk, and you know the interface (IDE or SATA, there is a difference), you would purchase a 2.5" IDE/SATA Hard Disk Enclosure. If it is a desktop hard disk, and you know the interface (IDE or SATA, there is a difference), you would purchase a 3.5" IDE/SATA Hard Disk enclosure. Hopefully this helps.
I find the best way to store media and music files is first on my desktop in the appropriate folders and then in an external hard drive. It is a relief to know I will always have them on the other hard drive should my computer ever crash unexpectedly.
with external drives, they use USB interfaces. Basically this means, you can swap them from PC to PC, simply by plugging, and unplugging it. (once data has been saved to the drive, and you know it isn't spinning)
