Have you tried putting a screwdriver through the latch hole and pulling down on the screw driver (Imitating the opening movement of the latch) If that doesn't work you will need to remove the latch to release it.
Something is wrong with my 1991 Toyota Corolla Dx's trunk latch. It will not let me close the lid shut and it stay shut. It will not stay latched. There is nothing no obstruction. Can you help me? Thanks
Adjusting the steering wheel on a 1998 Toyota Corolla is easy. All you have to is find the latch at the bottom and push in to adjust the wheel.
you fix it by not posting it under vw jetta
A hood latch is the mechanism that holds your vehicles hood in the closed position while in operation.
VIN plate location on 2008 Corolla Hatchback is inside the front passenger door on a black label, below the door latch.
usually the locking latch in the door is in the closed position. try holding the handle in the open position and opening the latch manually.
No the dimensions for the two hoods are slightly different. It will latch and fit pretty snug but it will be slightly too long.
Latch stuck in locked position? Electric "pull down" not working?
Does the 2002 Toyota Highlander have LATCH connectors?
AnswerUnlock it with the key. --------If you're asking about the "latch" which holds the door shut (visible when door is open), it (the latch) may be in the CLOSED position. (When in the OPEN position, it resembles a "U" on its side.)When you close the door under normal circumstances, an internal "tooth" snaps down, closing the "U" into an "O," grasping the stationary peg in the door frame, thus holding the door in its closed position.I have "opened" a latch closed in this "O" position by inserting a short, sturdy screwdriver (in lieu of the door frame's "peg" ) and PULLING INWARD while operating the EXTERNAL DOOR HANDLE and pulling OUTWARD. (The door must be unlocked for this to work.)--------Next time - don't play with the latch of an open door. :-)
Check that the latch is working. With the door open, Push the latch back with a screwdriver, & make sure it is holding in the closed position. If it does not hold closed the lock or inner door actuating mechanism may be faulty & would possibly need to be replaced. If it does hold closed, it should be just a matter of adjusting the striker plate.
This mechanism is called a "door latch." You can prices on the part from different Toyota and Chevrolet dealer parts suppliers. This is likely where the part is coming from. As for labor... expect from 0.7 to 0.9 hours.
