Hormonal therapy is a good idea if you don't mind it. It regulates you so when you come to the placebo pills you know that you should start your period. It controls how long your period goes on too, which can be a blessing. I was having periods that were so iratic it was insane. I was bleeding from 3-15 days straight when I had mine. I really didn't want to turn to the pill but it's the only other option I could handle to keep me sane, plus, I wasn't spending so much time worrying about everything.. like when I was going to start or end, washing my bed sheets or clothes if I bled through because I thought my period was over with or spending money on so many sanitary napkins. I would mention something to your doctor and ask him what your options are. There are many things you can do other than hormones. They have cloth pads that you can wash.. but for me that's too messy. The also have something called a cervial cup that is something like a balloon. It fills and you change it later. It's less hassal than pads and tampons because of the less frequent changing.

PMS is a socially constructed illness, it's a vague collection of symptoms attributed to menstruation that can be a result of your feelings towards menstruation. The first step in surviving menstruation is thus changing your attitude towards menstruation and learning more about it.
