You will need a computer program or a web browser to send an e-mail. There are many e-mail clients (programs) that can be used for sending an e-mail. You can also used a web-based service to send an e-mail using your web browser.

An e-mail client needs to communicate through an e-mail server for sending the message. Your client sends the message to your e-mail server. Your e-mail server sends the message through the internet to the recipient's e-mail server, where it is stored until the recipient retrieves it.

When sending a message, you need to enter the e-mail address of the recipient, a subject, and a message. You can enter several recipients at the same time.

A proper e-mail address must have the recipient's user name, an ampersand "@" in the middle, and followed by a domain name. It should look similar to the following: my.friend@gmail.com

An e-mail address must not have any spaces in it.
