Adding detail to my question... I have a laptop that has full wifi, and another with no wifi, and it cannot use an adapter...
Is there any way I can connect wirelessly to a spare router I have, as well as my internet enabled router (I have a USB WiFi adapter I could use to make 2 connections), and then connect the laptop with no wifi to the spare router via ethernet to get internet? The laptop with wifi is windows 8, and the other is fedora 19. Thanks!
Through either its wireless connection or through a ethernet port.
Your laptop can not feed the PSN to the PS3, the PS3 has to be connected to the internet with an ethernet cable or through WiFi not a USN or HDMI connection
Yes of course. You can use their internet service through Ethernet cable or through a wifi connection that is surely with a high speed internet connection.
Direct Connection, Connection Through an Integrated Router, and a Connection Through a Gateway Device.
Neither really. You pay for a connection from an ISP. Your ISP's signals go to your router through your phone lines. Then your PC is connected to the router (through ethernet or wireless), and that's how it accesses the internet. The PSP is no different, it connects to a wireless router and accesses the internet in the same way. It does not use the PC as a middleman, as such.
Yes that is correct the only way you can connect a PS3 to the internet is either through the Ethernet cable or through the WiFi wireless connection to a Broadband internet service. The USB ports can not be used to connect the PS3 to the internet in any manner.
By definition, being "Connected to the Internet" means that your computer has established a connection to the World Wide Web through your ISP, or Internet Service Provider.
You will need an ethernet cable if you cannot connect through wireless or do not have a wirless card.
The PS3 can connect to the internet with two different methods. The first is with the Built in WiFi connection that will allow you to connect to your internet service if you already have WiFi connection capability or you add it to you system. The second is a wired connection with an ethernet cable from the PS3 to you internet Modem or Router. Connection with dial up, USB or other devices is not possible as the connection must be through the ethernet port or WiFi signal.
You can't it must be an ethernet cable or a WiFi connection through your router or modem to your internet service
Local connection just means you have an ethernet chord plugged into you computer. If internet connection through your DSL is down, you don't have internet services. What company do you have DSL through? If you are in the Midwest, look into the possibility of getting AT&T Uverse.
Apple's iBook laptops can connect to the Internet. The early versions of the iBook did not come with an AirPort (Wireless) connection - you needed to add an Airport card - so will need to be connected through a wire - usually an Ethernet cable plugged into the router.
