The Setting is important - Read from verse 9 onwards. Jesus explains to the Pharisees who did not agree that Jesus was eating with sinners and Tax collectors - Jesus replies by giving the reason why he was showing mercy and would help anyone who would accept the truth about him and his father. This is also the reason why his followers Jehovah's Witnesses call on every person in order that they can also come to know Jesus purpose, unlike the Religious leaders of his day.

Next time you are talking to a Christian Witness of Jehovah ask them to enlarge on the context of that potion of scripture.

What happened to Jehovah's witnesses for persecution?

Jehovah's Witnesses are not like other religious organizations. Jehovah's Witnesses do not persecute people for their religious views. Therefore nothing has happened to them 'for persecution'. JWs could never be found guilty of 'persecution'. Jehovah's Witnesses 'have been' persecuted for their uncompromising stand on various matters. JWs will not bear military arms in any nation, out of obedience to Jesus command to LOVE others. JWs have been persecuted for their uncompromising stand regarding their preaching ministry, out of obedience to Jesus mandate in Matthew 28:19, 20.

How do JWs interpret Matthew 11v27-30?

Matthew 11:27 is discussing how all the knowledge that Jesus obtained was from his father, Jehovah God. Then when he says "neither does anyone fully know the Father but the Son and anyone to whom the Son is willing to reveal him" means that you can't get to truly know God unless you go through Jesus (so to speak). That's why at the end of our prayers we say 'in Jesus name we pray, Amen' because we acknowledge Jesus' sacrifice, appreciate it, and realize that without Jesus we wouldn't have a chance to have a true relationship with Jehovah God. And Matthew 11:28-30 is Jesus inviting those who are "loaded down" with the problems of this world and telling them to take on his load which is "light" because it adds no further burden to you considering its for your benefit (like abstaining from fornication, sacrificing to idols, blood, etc. *that's stated at Acts 15:28, 29)
