How do Muslims view same-sex marriage?

Same sex marriage is strictly forbidden per Islam religion and is highly sinful and damned. It is called in Arabic "Luowat".

[And We sent Lot, who said to his people (men): "Why do you commit this lecherous act which none in the world has committed before? (80) In preference to women you satisfy your lust with men. Indeed you are a people who are guilty of excess."] (7:81)

In a jurisdiction that permits same-sex marriage, one's religion does not prevent one from obtaining a civil marriage. A Muslim cleric will most likely refuse to perform the ceremony and any Muslim religious organizations the couple might belong to are not likely to recognize the marriage. So far, no traditionally Muslim countries permit same-sex marriage, but there are sizable Muslim populations in U.S. States and European countries where same-sex marriage is available to anyone, regardless of religion.
