Roman Catholic AnswerConsecrated Bread and Wine, otherwise known as the Body and Blood of Our Blessed Lord, are actually His Body, and His Blood, as He told us in the Gospels. Read the sixth chapter of St. John's Gospel, Our Blessed Lord repeats Himself over and over again to reinforce this, and even lets His disciples leave Him rather than change His story. Catholics treat the Body and Blood of Our Blessed Lord exactly as they would treat Jesus, as they are one and the same. Thus we treat Him with extreme respect and reverence. There is perpetual Adoration in a special Chapel in my Church, and many of the people fully prostrate themselves on the floor when they come in and when they leave, this is the same Lord who was walking around Israel twenty centuries ago! We know that after Consecration, nothing of the bread remains save its appearance, the entire substance is changed to the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of God; as well with the wine.

Chickens LOVE bread as a treat, but it shouldn't be all that they eat of course. They are even fine with eating moldy bread - it won't hurt them, and is better than throwing it away.

What do you do when the bread that comes the Body of Christ is raised by the priest?

Roman Catholic AnswerMost people, when adoring the Host at the elevation, pray silently, "My Lord, and My God" after the example of St. Thomas when he first saw the risen Lord; and strike their breast with their right hand.from A Catholic Dictionary, edited by Donald Attwater, Second edition, revised 1957Elevation of the Host, The, for adoration immediately after its consecration at Mass is a relatively recent custom first observed at the end of the 12th century in the diocese of Paris as a protest against the erroneous teaching that our Lord's body as not present until after the consecration of the chalice. The celebrant is instructed to life the Host so that the people can see it; they therefore are intended to look at it and adore. The elevation of the Chalice was not the rule until the end of the 16th century, and is still not done by the Carthusians who, moreover, do not genuflect completely at the consecration. . . .from Modern Catholic Dictionary by John A. Hardon, S.J. Doubleday & Co., Inc. Garden City, NY 1980Elevation of the Host. Raising of the consecrated Host for the faithful's adoration at Mass, before the consecration of the chalice, which is elevated separately for adoration immediately afterward. This separate elevation is to profess the Real Presence of Christ's Body already before the consecration of the chalice.Non Catholic AnswerMost other Christians do not believe in the bread being physically chnged into the Body of Christ and regard the adoration of what they see as as inanimate object as verging on idolatry. They remember Christ's words when he said that 'God is Spirit... and we must worship Him in Spirit' and not in an inanimate object like a wafer.Instead, most non-Catholics remember Christ's words - "This is my body (blood)...do this whenever you eat or drink - in remembrance of me". The nuance in Greek suggests that the 'is' in 'This is my body' can more properly be interpreted as 'this represents my body', and so most non-Catholics use this interpretation rather than invoke any special powers in the bread itself. Anglicans, for example, regard the miracle of the Eucharist is in receiving the inanimate bread in faith, and only by faith can the bread feed us spiritualyl (see the 39 Articles of Religion for more information on this).Nevertheless, even though they do not accept that the bread becomes physically Christ, non Catholics invariably still treat the consecrated bread with due reverence and respect. But they do not 'worship' it as they believe only God - in spirit - should be worshipped.
