A gap in the base of the sewer line opens up and a vacuum in the sewer is activated. It sucks the stuff in the bowl down into the septic tank, and then blue sanitizing fluid comes out in place of water and rinses out and cleans the toilet bowl. (About 2 liters, or 1/2 a gallon, of blue fluid is used)

∙ 14y agoThe toilet works by a vaccum, when the pump is sucking, some water flows to clean out the bowl for 2 seconds. The waste is stored in tanks until the plane lands. Then, it is pumped out and into a sewage treament plant. Vaccum toilets are better because they use less water, and since it is vaccum operated, the pipe does not have to let gravity do the work, which mean you dont have to tear up floorboards to install a pipe. A vaccum toilet can suck down a whole roll of toilet paper.
