Many animals respond differently to drops in temperature. At first most search for a warmer area within the habitat. But once it gets too low all the animals respond differently.

Mammals often either eat lots of food and prepare to hibernate, or migrate to area with more food and are slightly warmer.

Amphibians may also go into a hibernation state or simply die off.

Reptiles bodies slow down immensely being coldblooded and will also go into hibernation.

Birds will often migrate south (or north) to avoid the cold towards warmer temperatures.

Fish bodies slow down and they will continue to live under water.

Insects and arachnids will either hibernate or die off.

It depends on the animal. Generally, cold blooded animals will become more active in the presence of heat or retreat to a cooler spot while warmblooded animals will either sweat, pant, or roll around in mud or water to stay cool.
