SSRIs increase the concentration of serotonin in the gap between the neuron synapses in certain part of the brain. This is the method of action of SSRIs, but WHY does this cause anti-depressant effect, it is still to be found.
Drugs that prolong the activity of norepinephrine on the postsynaptic membrane help to relieve depression.
Cymbal ta, effexor, lithium, ability Prozac, these are some of the medications they give for depression one or two of them has other things their used for
Unlikely.Sulfa drugs are an old (i.e. before penicillin) type of antibiotic, not an antidepressant.
Antidepressant drugs are medicines that relieve symptoms of depressive disorders.
Someone usually resorts to drugs when they are feeling depressed, or possibly stressed out. This may temporarily relieve stress, depression, but you should not get into the habbit of taking "bad" drugs. For the young, many do it for the additional buzz on a night out or to fit in with others!
There are many medications that are safe to take for both anxiety and depression, in fact there are medicines traditional used for depression that are now prescribed purely for anxiety. These anti-depressants are generally SNRIs or SSRIs. For example, Celexa has been used to treat both. Always check with your doctor when considering taking two medication at the same time, particularly if you are on a MAOI.
You die. Don't take more than one SSRI at a time. Combining two SSRIs is of some danger, and doctors do it only as a desperate attempt. Combining SSRIs increases massively concentration of serotonin at the gap between the neuron synapses, which may cause serotonin syndrome which if untreated is fatal. I'm not expert on opiates, but respiratory depression which can be fatal. Don't take more than one opiate at once. Taking one SSRI and one opiate at a time, should not cause problems. I don't think that SSRIs and opiates interact much.
No, it is not, Prozac, or Fluoxetine (not to be confused with Fluvoxamine / Brand Name - Luvox) is in a class of drugs known as Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors or SSRIs (Paxil, Zoloft, Lexapro, etc.). These drugs are most commonly prescribed as antidepressants. I have found that most doctors are quick to prescribe SSRIs & probably wouldn't hesitate to if you asked for one of them. Because the level of abuse with SSRIs is much lower than with many other drugs, doctors don't seem to encourage the extra caution as they might with other drugs such as Xanax, Loratab, Oxycontin, etc. However, many people seem to believe the withdraw from discontinuing the use of SSRIs can be just as bad as & maybe worse than with some of those & many other drugs . . . http://www.drugs.com/prozac.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selective_serotonin_reuptake_inhibitor http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluoxetine
Very easily. Don't 'shoot' drugs.
Antiangina drugs are medicines that relieve the symptoms of angina pectoris (severe chest pain).
Antiparkinson drugs are medicines that relieve the symptoms of Parkinson's disease and other forms of parkinsonism.
Kai Wong copes with depression without drugs by praying, and then by thinking of a funny joke.
