There is no equivalent of heaven in the sense used by the Abrahamic faiths in Buddhism. There is a sate of Nirvana where the sense of "self" as a unique being is shed. This may be attained by becoming enlightened (innate following of the Eightfold Path) after countless cycles of death and rebirth. Gods play no role in this enlightenment, it is up to the individual. Nirvana is not compulsory. The enlightened person may choose to return to the cycle of existence to provide guidance for others.

The BuddhaAnswer:The processes in Buddhism are not so much the following of anyone as the effort to find one's own way. The Buddha is an example to us, he however is not necessary as we could reach the same goals of enlightenment by following the Eightfold Path on our own.

Enlightenment is a state of relative and absolute happiness, this state is the goal of many Buddhists.
Buddhism is more a style of life than a god-based religion with a Sabbath. (Which is more common to Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.) So, Buddhists don't actually worship anybody, but rather attempt to reach a state in which their minds are completely detached from the world around them through meditation. This could be described as total peace, in non-Buddhist terminology. Buddhists typically spend as much time per day, every day, as they can in meditation.

In many sense they are vastly different and is some they are similar. The differences include whether there are immortal god or gods; the necessity for rituals or priests; What the basic principal of the religion is. The similarities (though not exact) are the concept of rebirth; the goal of trying to reach enlightenment (moksa), the concept of karma.
Its not a religion, its a cult. I suppose it is a wealthy person's religion because you have to pay them to join and reach higher levels in the cult.
