In most hydro brake booster systems the pump also runs the power steering system so if the power steering works the pump is okay. It sounds like you have a master cylinder problem.
Brake boosters are used only on power brakes, not manual brakes. The booster's function is to give more braking power with minimal pressure on the brake pedal. If the booster is not working properly, you will still have brakes, but the brake pedal will be very hard to push.A brake booster is what gives power brakes their power. It works on vacuum from the engine. The booster pushes on the master cylinder with the pressure applied to the booster by stepping on the brake. If the engine is off, it cannot get vacuum, therefore the brakes will be hard when the engine is off. This is noticeable when pushing a stalled vehicle and stepping on the brake.ConstructionThe brake booster is made of five parts: the booster piston, body, booster return spring, control valve and reaction valve. The body has two chambers--the variable pressure chamber and constant pressure chamber--separated by a diaphragm.TypesThe brake boosters 's size and whether it has a single or more than one diaphragm depend on the year, make and model of the vehicle. When ordering a new booster, tell the auto parts store or dealer the year, make and model of your vehicle, and they will give you the correct one.
Check to make sure you have power at the brake light switch, if you have power at the switch, depress the brake pedal, and check for power out of the switch, if no power out with the brake pedal depressed, you need a new brake pedal switch.
Low fluid or something is wrong with your power assist (booster). Having it vacum tested could be a good idea. The Booster only works when the engine is running and a few seconds up to half a minute after it has been turned off.
start by checking fuses, then at brakelight switch check for power on one wire, should have power.next check power on the other wire with brake pedal pushed down.if you have power check wires from switch to lights if third brake light works fuse and switch ok.
You need to check the wiring for power to the bulbs.
The abs works electrically. There should be sensors at each wheel, and a fuse just for the abs system. Check the fuse first.
Check the fuse. Then check the wiring.
Check the fuses for your brakes.
check fuses then check all the bulbs, then check the turn signal switch the brake lights work through it
Check the bulb.
