Cone shells have converted the rasping radular teeth of other gastropods into deadly darts capable of stopping a fish in its tracks - a skill you need if you are a slow shell with a taste for fast-moving flesh. Loaded with venom which is, in some cases, quite capable of killing a human, the darts are shot from a long distensible nose called a proboscis. Different species feed on worms.
