The US Senate is comprised from 100 members, with two elected from each state.

Technically, the constituents of each Senator would be the residents of the particular state he or she represents.

Senator Richard Lugar's constituents are the residents of Indiana,

Senator Ted Kennedy's constituents are the residents of Massachusetts.

The term is also used to describe a group that a particular senator might have a particular interest or provide support for. For instance, one senator might work with cattle ranchers, while another has a particular expertise in banking.
