Dolphins in pods have larger male dolphins at the periphery to protect the smaller dolphins. Solitary dolphins and young dolphins are prone to attack by schools of medium or solitary larger sharks. In some instances an exhausted dolphin may beach itself in the evening to rest and refloat on the next tide as a means of avoiding predators. In this case, refloating a solitary dolphin where it is beached may not be such a good idea as it would be to refloat it somewhere else, say in an estuary or river, where there is a food source and clean water (salt or salty freshwater) but somewhere isolated from the predators that caused it to beach. A healthy dolphin should be fast enough to escape, or strong enough to fight back by striking a shark with its beak.

They attack by hitting(sharks) on their nose then swimming away.

A dolphin wouldn't want to escape from its prey. Instead it would want to catch it. Dolphins do so by working in groups to force fish into bait balls. They will sometimes do this by blowing bubbles from their air holes which frightens and stuns the fish. Some dolphins strand fish on the mud and almost beach themselves attempting to feed. Larger dolphins such as orcas and false killer whales sometimes attempt to beach seals. Other habits of catching prey also exist.

When they send their echos and it hits off of something, they can tell the size and shape from far away. Therefore they usually can swim away before it's predator detects it.
