If dragons existed, they would use their senses to determine whether there was danger. They would probably have very good eyesight, and maybe also smell and hearing. They might also have the same sort of chemical sensing system that vipers do, where they stick out their tongues to sense chemicals in the air. Or they might sense heat the way some other predators do.
