You can either send it in to Microsoft, which could take from 4 to 6 weeks in total. You will in all likelihood not get back your own Xbox, but if you are in the 3 year warranty period you will not have to pay.
There are also a few decent guides out there that show you how to fix yourself it with ordinary household tools.
Please do not try the "towel fix" which advocates wrapping your Xbox in a towel in the hopes that it will overheat and the broken joins will re-solder. This is dangerous.
Either send it to Microsoft or take it somewhere. Or do it yourself.
No, they won't. If you're out of warranty, you might want to look up ways that can potentially fix a red ringed 360.

Microsoft did fix the RROD. It is still common for some Xbox's to have the RROD though.
yes it can but not as much as the regular xbox 360 because of the newer fan that Microsoft has included in the slim 360 so there is alot less over heating if you don't wan to get the rrod very much then you should go with the slim xbox 360.

You will probably need to send your Xbox in to Microsoft to get it repaired. You can look on the xbox.com website under support to see how to do this. You can always buy a Xbox Repair Guide too(Shows you how to fix your rrod yourself). You won't have to wait over six weeks until you get your Xbox back either. It's a lot cheaper and you could repair your 360 in under an hour. You can find a good repair guide for about $14. Link Below
